Related: What WordPress plugins do I need?

In the above post I write about plugins that fall in the following categories:

  1. Security
  2. SEO
  3. Backup
  4. Forms
  5. Caching
  6. Anti-Spam
  7. E-Commerce
  8. Site Migration
  9. Maps
  10. Utility

You only need 1 plugin from each category, with the exception of Utility.

You may find your theme comes with a content editor like WP Bakery built into the theme, which you should keep should you wish to continue using the theme.

E-Commerce plugins like WooCommerce often require extensions, which are installed as WordPress plugins also.

So, all up, you should aim for no more than around 15 plugins per WordPress website.
